A theory of change for community interventions to prevent domestic violence against women and girls

Efforts to prevent violence against women and girls are essential, now more than ever. COVID-19 lockdowns and associated restrictions have led to an increase in reports of domestic violence as many women have been forced to spend signficant time in close proximity to their abusers. Community interventions and mobilisation activities have signficant potential to prevent violence against women and girls. This research article provides a theory of change for such activities, and includes the causal pathways from inputs to impact. This resource is relevant for any individual or organisation working to combat domestic violence in communities.
