COVID-19 advisory rural and low-income communities

April 17, 2020

Most research priorities do not focus on the impact of COVID-19 in low income and vulnerable populations. As a matter of human rights, we require some technical solutions (simple PPE, methods of hygiene and disinfection, and tailored guidance) oriented specifically towards low-income and vulnerable populations. This document developed by GramVaani, identifies and highlights practical solutions for prevention and care that can be implemented in less-than-optimal living and working circumstances. The advisories currently available from GoI/WHO have been contextualized for rural and low-income communities in India.

Accelerating vaccinations for millions of vulnerable people across India

VaxNow is bringing together the Government, Private Sector Organizations, Community leaders, NGOs and the Media to accelerate the vaccination of vulnerable people in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar. These partners will collaborate to reach the unreached through an agile, geographically contextualized plan which will help overcome barriers for vulnerable communities. The criteria for selecting these communities is: people with the highest access barriers, the highest chance of contracting COVID and people living in overcrowded places.
